Disco Neurotico: Building a club night for the neurodivergent community
A couple of weeks ago, we had the pleasure of speaking with Byron and Stef, the team behind Disco Neurotico—an organisation touring the UK to create accessible club nights for neurodivergent, sensorily sensitive, and anxious partygoers.
If you're involved in the ND arts sphere, you may well have heard of them. They’re doing incredible work, and we wanted to dive deeper—exploring their inspiration, process, and the impact of their events.
Byron explains that it all begins with authentic connection:
“What we do is community building. We do as much outreach as possible—I visit every town or city we go to and try to build this authentic connection. It’s all relational. It’s about making people feel safe, making people understand that we understand, and entering into a dialogue. We don’t take a didactic approach; we stay agile so we can meet people’s needs. Every event brings new people with new needs, and we try to address those as they come up by talking to people.”
